UBC engineers inducted as CAE Fellows

UBC professors Steven Cockcroft (Materials Engineering) and Elizabeth Croft (Mechanical Engineering), have been inducted as Fellows of the Canadian Academy of Engineering (CAE) in recognition of their distinguished achievements and career-long service to the engineering profession. The ceremony took place in Winnipeg, in conjunction with the Academy’s Annual General Meeting on June 27, 2016.

Materials Engineering Centennial celebration

Materials Engineering is celebrating its 100th anniversary with a celebration on October 2, 2015. The celebration includes a day of events, speakers, and an evening at the UBC Golf Course featuring keynote speaker Prof. Indira V. Samarasekera.

Applied Science students eligible for $25,000 quality of life design prize

In celebration of UBC’s Centennial year, the McEwen Family Charitable Trust has established a $25,000 prize for UBC Applied Science students who develop a product, design or best practice that improves quality of life. The McEwen Family Applied Science Quality of Life Prize is open to all UBC Applied Science undergraduate and masters students in engineering, nursing, architecture and landscape architecture, and community and regional planning.
